Methodology

How this estimate works

The calculator follows missed calls through a simple operating funnel. It removes calls that are not new-customer inquiries, then removes prospects you expect to recover by callback. Your close rate and average completed-job revenue are applied only to the remaining inquiries.

What “revenue at risk” means

Revenue at risk is an estimate of potential sales associated with unrecovered missed prospects. It is not a statement of revenue already lost, and it does not assume every missed caller would have hired your company.

Why callback recovery matters

A missed call is not automatically a missed opportunity. Prospects who reconnect after your callback are removed before the calculator estimates potential jobs.

Revenue is different from profit

Revenue is the full amount collected for a completed job. Gross profit is revenue after direct job costs. Add your gross margin only when you want the calculator to show that separate profit view.

View the calculation steps
  1. Weekly incoming calls are multiplied by 4.33 to estimate monthly calls.
  2. Monthly calls are multiplied by the missed-call percentage.
  3. Missed calls are multiplied by the prospective new-customer share.
  4. Expected callback recoveries are removed from those missed prospects.
  5. The remaining prospects are multiplied by the completed-job conversion rate.
  6. Potential jobs at risk are multiplied by average completed-job revenue.
  7. The monthly estimate is multiplied by 12 for the annual estimate.
  8. If supplied, gross margin is applied to estimate gross profit at risk.
